Handicap Access

Beach Access

 

There are numerous public beach access paths on Sullivan’s Island. There wooden boardwalks as well as foot paths leading to the beach. Handicap path access is available at Station 26. Currently, Station 18 is currently no longer offers ADA access as it currently has stair access. Station 21 beach access is under construction and will be reopened in late June as an ADA accessible boardwalk.

Public parking for the beach is allowed in the public right of way. All vehicles must obey the no parking signs at all times and keep all four tires off the pavement at all time. It is illegal to park or block the beach paths with a vehicle or golf cart at any time. There is public parking in front of Battery Thompson as well as behind Town Hall during non-business hours.

Handicap Beach Wheelchair

The Town also has beach wheelchairs outfitted with over-sized wheels available to residents and visitors. Advanced reservations are required. To reserve the wheelchair, fill out the Beach Wheelchair Application (PDF) and return it to Town Hall.
