Town Hall will close on Friday, May 27th at 2pm in observance of Memorial Day. Town Hall will re-open on Tuesday, May 31st at 8am. All essential first responder services will remain fully staffed. Regular trash pickup will occur on Wednesday, June 1st and Saturday, June 4th. Bulk pickup, yard debris and recycling will be collected on Thursday, June 2nd.  

Attention Residents! 
In September 2022 several seats on various Boards and Commissions will expire. Residents are encouraged to participate in the community through a three-year commitment to one of the various Boards or Commission. Click here to view available seats and applications. Historic Preservation and Design Study Group

The Historic Preservation and Design Study Group has been formed as a sub-committee of the Sullivan’s Island Land Use and Natural Resources Committee.  It is formed as recommended by the town’s Comprehensive Plan as adopted by Council in 2018.  The Study Group is tasked with gathering a greater understanding of resident opinions regarding our historic ordinances and to take a broad examination of our current ordinances, consider their original intent, evaluate the resulting “built environment” and to make recommendations.  We hope to benefit from community opinion regarding property ordinances, structure size, home placement, lot coverage and setbacks and how our ordinances intersect and conflict with each other as well as FEMA requirements. 

The Study Groups recommendations will be returned to the LUNR committee for consideration by council and other committees for further action. 

All meetings will occur within important constraints of open public meetings.  The meetings are the product of resident opinions and are open for anyone to attend, review and contribute their opinions and suggestions.  All minutes, referenced documents and proceedings will be recorded here for public interaction.  Questions and comments for the study group may be submitted here.

Minutes

Minutes of the Historic Preservation and Design Study Group meetings are not available until approved by a formal vote of the members. Therefore, meeting minutes are normally posted after approval the following month. The current years minutes can be found below.
