Administrator Message- Charleston Water System Test & 2022 Hurricane Season

Tue, 05/10/2022

Andy Benke

Greetings Island residents,

The Town has just learned the Charleston Water System will be conducting a test on the harbor pipeline which supplies potable water to Sullivan’s Island tomorrow Wednesday 5-11-22 between the general timeframe of 9:00 am to 11:00 am.  Please note that the testing will result in a lower household pressure during that period. However, all matters such as water quality, fire suppression and the like will not be compromised.

In an unrelated matter, remember that June 1 marks the beginning of the Atlantic hurricane season.  Early predictions by the forecasters at Colorado State University call for an above normal season with 19 named storms of which include 9 hurricanes. Of the 9 predicted hurricanes, at least 4 are expected to be major storms at Category 3 or above (Category 3 is 111-129 mph winds sustained).  It is never to early to craft your family hurricane plan. Guides and examples can be found on the Town website or Charleston County website www.charlestoncounty.org.  First up is ALEX so work on your plan and begin to check the Weather Channel daily.

Regards,

Andy Benke
