Important message from Mayor O'Neil regarding Hurricane Isaias

Fri, 10/09/2026

Town leadership and Mayor O’Neil just participated in a call with Charleston County Emergency Management Department regarding Hurricane Isaias. The Forecast still calls for significant rainfall between 3-6 inches, with some areas receiving 7 inches. The heaviest rains will be Saturday. A tornado watch is expected in the pre-dawn hours Saturday and again Saturday evening as bands move on shore from the Gulf Stream. Immediate coastal areas could see water spouts.

The Police and Fire Departments are fully staffed and prepared to respond, if needed, with the Fire Department’s high water vehicle. Sand bags are available on Quarter Street.

Additional updates will be provided if there are significant forecast changes.
