Water & Sewer Tips for Approaching Hurricane

Mon, 08/28/2023

Just a couple reminders as we await the arrival of Hurricane Idalia.

If you decide to leave the Island don't forget to shut off water to your home at the customer shut off valve located near your water meter. It's a green plastic lid with a valve below it. It is a quarter turn valve. Every meter has one. It could be grassed over but it is withing 6" of your meter box. DO NOT ACCESS THE METER BOX.
Do not open sewer clean outs in low lying areas of your yard. Divert sump pump discharge to the street. Not the sewer system. If your not sure where to discharge a sump pump too, please call and we can offer some guidance. Heavy rains and storm surge on top of existing tides will cause flooding in the usual areas of the Island with this approaching storm.
BE SAFE EVERYONE!!
