Boil Water Advisory 06/15/2022

Wed, 06/15/2022

UPDATE: As of 06/19/2022 the below boil water advisory has been lifted. Test results confirmed the water is safe to drink.

Boil Water Advisory To Residence along I'On from Sta 28.5 to 30 Town of Sullivan’s Island Wednesday, June 15, 2022

The Water Department of the Town of Sullivan’s Island and DHEC advise the water users of Sullivan’s Island to boil their water for at least one (1) full minute prior to drinking or cooking.

Due to a contractor breaking the water main near 2857 I'On, at approximately 10 AM this morning 6/15/22. It was necessary to shut water off from Station 28.5 to 30 along I'On Ave in order to make the repair. This precautionary advisory is being issued only as a safeguard against possible contaminants. Again the Water Department advises water users to vigorously boil their water for one (1) minute prior to drinking or cooking until further notice by the department. Also any ice made from water, which has not been boiled, should not be used for consumption purposes.

SI Water Department personnel have restored water service in this two block area at approximately 12:30 PM. We do not expect any drinking water quality deterioration. We are flushing and will be testing the water and will notify the residents when test results have confirmed no contamination has occurred and no longer need to boil you water. We expect these test results back by 2 PM Thursday June 16, 2022.

If you should have any questions concerning this advisory, you may call water department at 843-883-5749.
