Dominion Energy Tree Removal

Tree Trimming Palm Tree
Fri, 05/15/2020

Good afternoon Island residents,

Dominion Energy South Carolina (DESC) recently completed their routine, 5-year trimming cycle on Sullivan’s Island.  Following an inspection of the work, DESC arborists, working collaboratively with the Town, identified 122 palmetto trees in state right-of-way that require removal as a result of close proximity to overhead lines.  These palmetto trees are marked at their base with white paint and will be removed by DESC’s contractor, Lewis Tree Service.  This work is scheduled to begin May 18, 2020, and will conclude in the summer. Crews will cut the tree flush to the ground and remove the debris at the same time.

This critical work ensures the safety, reliability and resiliency of the overhead electric system. Customers with questions about DESC’s tree trimming program can visit www.dominionenergysc.com/treetrimming or call 800-251-7234.  Also, to review DESC’s list of approved right-of-way plantings, please visitwww.dominionenergysc.com/docs/librariesprovider5/pdfs/power-lines-and-tree-planting-distances.pdf?sfvrsn=4

The Town has prepared a list of trees by general location that will be removed. You may review that list here.

Regards,

Andy Benke
