Drinking Water Quality Report

                                    Faucet of Water

The Safe Drinking Water Act of 1996 requires that each community water system provide an annual Drinking Water Quality Report to all its customers. The information contained herein is for the Town of Sullivan’s Island (System #1010003) for the reporting period of January 1, 2022, through December 31, 2022. The Town of Sullivan’s Island purchases its water from the Charleston Water System (CWS) which is a surface water facility, treating water from the Edisto River and Bushy Park Reservoir. Charleston Water System’s (CWS) 2022 Drinking Water Quality Report is available for your review by clicking here. The Water Quality Report from CWS is representative of the water delivered to Sullivan’s Island residents. You may also review the report below.

We continue today to add food grade Polyphosphate to the water supply to minimize discolored (Red) water. In addition, we have replaced/rehabbed approximately 58,000 linear feet of water main and 24,000 feet of service lines. Sullivan’s Island does not have any lead service lines in our system. We still have approximately 21,000 feet of Cast Iron water mains that need to be replaced. Each year our goal is to replace approximately 1,000 feet. With all the sewer projects in most recent years we have not replaced any water mains the past two years. We have resumed this replacement program in 2023.
