An Alert from Dominion Energy- Hurricane Helene

Wed, 09/25/2024

dominion

As you are aware, inclement weather due to Hurricane Helene is forecast for our area on Thursday and Friday.  High winds, heavy rainfall, some flooding and possible tornadoes are forecast. While we are not sure the extent the system will affect our operations, there is the potential for power outages across portions of our service territory in the Midlands and along the coast.

We are closely monitoring the storm and our crews stand ready 24/7 to respond no matter Helene’s direction or timing.

The key to our preparation is not only what we do in the days leading up to a storm, but what we do year-round. We prepare for severe weather by investing in the right people and in the safeguarding of our system through routinely maintaining and inspecting our facilities and replacing wooden poles with steel poles. Importantly, our vegetation management program helps safeguard our system, the safety of our employees and the general public.  Trees and tree limbs are the No. 1 reason for outages across our system.

Just as our crews are preparing now in advance of the storm, we urge you and your constituents to do the same. Pack an emergency kit with flashlights, batteries, portable radio, first-aid kit and enough bottled water and non-perishable food to last several days.

We are touching base to ensure you have the information you need.  If you have any concerns, do not hesitate to contact me on my mobile phone below.
