 Miscellaneous Announcements

In the event you notice any suspicious activity, please call for a Police Officer immediately. 9-1-1 for an emergency and 843-743-7200 for the non-emergency at Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch Center.

  • Christmas Trees
    • Keep your Christmas tree watered – a lighted but dry Christmas tree can be a fire hazard
    • Discarded trees will be collected by the yard debris vendor on Thursday 01-02-20; Wednesday 01-08-20; or, any subsequent Wednesday in January or February.  Trees should be cut to lengths of 4 feet or less.

  • New Year’s Day – the Polar Bear Plunge sponsored by Dunleavy’s Pub is always a big day on the Island.  Expect large crowds before the 2pm dip and anticipate traffic delays. Be sure to come out and support the Special Olympics.

  • 2020 Dog Tag – a dog tag and collar issued by the Town of Sullivan’s Island is required for visitors and residents to have a dog on the Island and especially to visit the beach with their pet.  The 2020 dog tags are now on sale at Town Hall.

  • Smoking on the Beach – In an effort to provide a healthy beach experience for residents and visitors, Town Council will codify and ordinance in January 2020 that will prohibit smoking and vaping on the beach and all public spaces. It is expected that this new ordinance will work well with the previously codified plastics ordinance in an effort to maintain a pristine marine environment on Sullivan’s Island.

In January Town Hall will be issuing reusable bags to volunteers that are willing to collect trash and cigarette butts while walking on the beach.

Wishing you and your family a happy and safe holiday week!!!

Regards,

Andy Benke
Town Administrator
