Council has recently tasked Thomas and Hutton with exploring additional recreation concepts for the Stith Park Master Plan which could further enhance the Park experience.  To gather additional information, the engineer has been asked to delay the presentation scheduled for April 16, 2024 to a later to be determined date. Appropriate notification will be provided for the rescheduled presentation date.

 

Meet the Fire & Rescue Staff

Stith

Anthony Stith - Fire Chief
Anthony Stith came on board as the Fire Chief in 1982. He got his start in the Fire & Rescue industry in 1974 working for the Mount Pleasant Fire Department. In addition to his regular duties as Chief, Anthony also leads Sullivan's Island Volunteer Fire & Rescue Squad and serves as the head of the Maintenance Department. Mandy Hawver

Amanda Hawver - Assistant Chief
Mandy has been in the fire service for over 24 years. Born and raised in Mount Pleasant and Sullivan’s Island, Mandy started serving the citizens of Sullivan’s Island in August of 2003. She started her career as a firefighter and now serves as an Assistant Chief. You can reach Mandy at ahawver@sullivansisland.sc.gov.

 

 

 

Curt Gibbons

William Curtis Gibbons III - Fire Captain
Curt has been in the fire service for 35 years. He started as a volunteer at age 18 with the Isle of Palms Fire Department. After transitioning to a career position as firefighter he served the citizens of Isle of Palms for 10 years rising to the position of Engineer. After leaving the city he became a volunteer with the Sullivan's Island Fire and Rescue while working at Guy C. Lee building materials transitioning into a career position as firefighter in 2003.  During Curt’s time on the Island he has been promoted to Engineer, Lieutenant, and finally Fire Captain. It has been a gratifying journey and a pleasure to serve the citizens of both Islands he likes to call home. Curt can be reached at cgibbons@sullivansisland.sc.gov.


 

Drew

Andrew Levay- Fire Captain
Andrew was born in California and moved to the Mount Pleasant area in the 80's.  He started service as a volunteer at Isle of Palms Fire and began working for the citizens of Sullivan’s Island in March of 2002. Adam IvanAdam Ivan - Fire Captain/Training Officer
Adam was hired in May 2017 to serve the community as a firefighter. In his spare time, he likes to train on the fire equipment and is an avid classic car enthusiast. You can reach Adam at aivan@sullivansisland.sc.gov.

 

 

 

Eric Stinnett

Eric Stinnett - Lieutenant
Eric has been working for Sullivan’s Island since 2011 but has been in the fire service for over 19 years. As an avid surfer and stand-up paddleboarder, Eric takes pride in being the first to jump on a jet-ski for a water mission. Eric can be reached at estinnett@sullivansisland.sc.gov.

 

 

 

Stephen Poole

Stephen Poole - Lieutenant
Stephen joined Sullivan’s Island in 2012 as a firefighter. Born and raised in Mount Pleasant he graduated Clemson University before attending the South Carolina Fire Academy. Stephen also works part time for the Public Works department. He can be reached at spoole@sullivansisland.sc.gov.

 

 

 

Don Harbaugh

Don Harbaugh - Lieutenant 
Don has been with the Sullivan’s Island Fire Department since September 2014. In addition to his regular fire & rescue duties, he works part time for the Public Works department. Paul Sottile

Paul Sottile - Firefighter
Paul began as a volunteer firefighter in June 2016 and was hired full time in July 2017. Prior to the fire service, he served in the Navy on the USS Enterprise. Paul enjoys assisting the residents and visitors of Sullivan’s Island and takes pride in keeping the station and equipment in great condition. Marc Micalizzi

Marc Micalizzi - Firefighter
Marc was born in New Jersey and moved to the Charleston area in the 1992.  He started service in 1985 as a volunteer for Atlantic Highlands and Middletowne Fire Departments in New Jersey then an Engineer for North Charleston Fire, a contract firefighter/acting officer in Iraq and a Engineer at Old Fort.  Marc began as a volunteer for Sullivan's Island in 1992 and began working for the citizens of Sullivan’s Island full time in March of 2017. Lee PLee Pearson- Firefighter
Lee was born and raised in the Mount Pleasant area.  He started service as a volunteer at with Sullivan's Island Fire in 2016 and began working for the citizens of Sullivan’s Island in March of 2019.  You can reach Lee at lpearson@sullivansisland.sc.gov.

 

 

 

Tom KentTom Kent- Firefighter
Tom was hired in October of 2023 as a full-time firefighter. In his spare time Tom likes to kayak, fish, and spend time back home in central Florida with family whenever he can. You can reach Tom at tkent@sullivansisland.sc.gov.

 

 

 

  Winnie

Windsor Anderton- Firefighter
Winnie was born in Florida and moved to the Sullivan's Island in 2020.  She started service as a volunteer at Sullivan's Island Fire in 2021 and worked at St John's Fire for a year and began working for the citizens of Sullivan’s Island in January of 2024.
