Greetings Island residents,

I trust everyone enjoyed the long Thanksgiving weekend. Below please find a few items of interest to pass along.  I anticipate another informational message in mid-December to wrap up 2022 on Sullivan’s Island.

Street Sweeper 7:00 AM Thursday December 1, 2022
In an effort to keep the stormwater system flowing effectively, the Town engages the services of a street sweeping machine that is used along Jasper Boulevard and most of Middle Street to remove leaves and dirt. On Thursday 12-1-2022 to contractor will begin cleaning the streets at approximately 7AM. For those residents residing on Middle Street between Station 12 and Station 28.5 Streets, if at all possible, please relocate your parked vehicle off of the street by 8 AM.  The work is anticipated to be completed by 4 PM that afternoon.

Sullivan’s Island Police Department Bicycle Drive
Last year the Sullivan’s Island Police Department was able to donate over 200 new bicycles to the Toys for Tots program operated by the US Marine Corps.  This year the Department has set a goal of donating 300 new bicycles to the program. Please consider helping them reach this goal. Donated bikes can be dropped off at the Sullivan’s Island Police Department located at 2056 Middle Street between 9 AM and 4 PM Monday through Friday. Holiday Park Lighting and Fireworks – Friday December 2, 2022
The annual holiday park lighting will be held on Friday 12-2-22 at dusk. The award-winning Wando High School Chorus will perform again this year providing wonderful seasonal music. Following the chorus and park lighting there will be a spectacular fireworks show.  The Town has also received word that a special visitor from the North Pole will attend to speak individually to every child that wishes to meet him!!!

To facilitate pedestrian safety, Middle Street between Station 20 to 22 Streets will close to motor vehicles.  Traffic will be rerouted around the area by way of I’On Avenue. Please expect delays and allow additional time for your commute.

As noted, I expect one final message in mid-December to outline Town holidays for the month, adjustments to household/yard debris collection, capital project completions and meetings for 2023.
