Sullivan’s Island boasts beautiful coastlines that many seek to be the backdrop for their special day. A request to hold a wedding ceremony on the beach must be made in writing. Email requests may be sent to potto@sullivansisland.sc.gov The written request must include the following information:
- Name, address and telephone number of bride and groom
- Name, address and telephone number of wedding officiant
- Date, time and desired location of the ceremony
- Estimated duration of ceremony
- Estimated number of guests
- Any special requirements
There are several requirements of beach weddings by the Town which should be noted when planning your ceremony:
- Guests should observe designated public parking areas
- Beach access is allowed via designated beach paths or property owner paths
- No vehicles or golf cars are permitted on the beach or beach path at any time
- Ceremonies may not be conducted within 100 feet of the dunes or turtle nesting areas
- Sea oats may not be disturbed or destroyed
- Bird seed or rice may not be distributed on the beach or beach paths
- Sparklers and fireworks are prohibited
- All dogs must have a license from Town Hall
- All alcoholic beverages are prohibited on all streets, boardwalks and beaches
- All commercial activity is prohibited on the beach (including vendors, photography and filming)
- Structures are not permitted (including arbors and alters)
- Privacy of the surrounding residents must be respected
