Tropical Storm Chantal will possibly make landfall along the middle to upper South Carolina Coast late Sunday. Higher rain chances, with heavy rainfall possible, especially along the coast. Gusty winds, especially along the Charleston and Colleton County coasts, I-526/HWY 17 bridges, and over the coastal waters. Enhanced risk of rip currents through the weekend.

The Town of Sullivan’s Island was officially incorporated under the laws of South Carolina on June 16, 1975. The Town of Sullivan’s Island is governed by an elected Mayor and six elected Council Members. Terms for Mayor and Council Members are four years. 

The Mayor and Council are charged with creating and maintaining the Code of Ordinances, the local Law of the Town, approving the Town’s annual budget, setting goals and policies and awarding Town contracts.


The Town Council meets, at minimum, two times per month. Regular Council meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month and Council Workshops are held on the first Monday of the month. Council is divided into smaller committees which generally meet once per month to discuss specific matters related to those committees.
